Ferranti Picnic Portable Model 815

Opening the lid showed I'd been here before, removed the screws and not replaced them and the tuning knob failed to move the dial...Is it my imagination but, because Ferranti was a major player in defence electronics, it shows in this radio design.

It was a messy job opening the lid because of the way it fitted. The valves are a little inaccessible and are a DL94, DAF91, DF91 and DK91 which is an early range of B7G 1.4 volt filament types. The set dates from 1951.
