Redsure ELCB Tester

I've had this tester for so many years I can't remember where it came from. Maybe from a box of junk at a car boot sale is my best guess? It seems to have the serial number "03" so it doesn't at first appear if many were made. It looks quite definitely English as at least from its external looks is made from over-the-counter trade components and not custom made as it would need to be to make the company big profits.

Looking up the company (Redsure E.L.P. Limited) reveals it probably ceased trading before 2000 and was liquidated 2002 so either sales were not what was hoped or something else curtailed business. The product below looks like the sort of thing that might get onto Dragons Den. The label indicates that Redure applied for a patent but whether there was sufficient novelty in their design must be wondered. For a start the choice of a green rather than a red lamp would have been better for indicating all was well with the ELCB under test. Sometime I'll open it and see what's inside.

It looks like it would be useful if one had a number of ELCBs and wanted to confirm they worked satisfactorily. I know the one I use to protect the mains supply to my garden shed is forever tripping and it would be nice to see whether this tester could indicate the reason.
